Model Senate is a high school role-playing program focused on the discussion, debate, and presentation of policy solutions to pressing global issues facing the United States.
Students step into the shoes of a U.S. Senator or expert witness to address pressing global challenges. Model Senate participants will join in mock senate committee hearings and follow the Senate’s process of examining issues, debating them and formulating policy resolutions.
Senators in the Model Senate program must research, debate, and vote on global policy resolutions, emulating their assigned real-world Senator’s positions and voting records.
EXPERT WITNESS ROLE
Expert Witnesses provide specialized knowledge to inform U.S. policy. Student Expert Witnesses play specific roles, testify about their character’s expertise, advocate for their character’s preferred policies, and assist Senators in drafting policy resolutions.
