Her deep expertise in Japan is further rooted in her tenure as Principal Officer for the U.S. Consulate in Fukuoka. A recognized Subject Matter Expert, Margot has received three Superior Honor Awards, as well as the prestigious Lois Roth Award for Cultural Diplomacy for her work in strengthening U.S.-Japan exchange and women’s empowerment.
Now based in North Carolina, Margot serves on the boards of the Japan-America Society of North Carolina and Asheville Sister Cities. She is a frequent lecturer at Johns Hopkins SAIS and an active member of the U.S.-Japan Council. Margot graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Florida with an M.A. in International Relations. A native speaker of French, she is also fluent in Japanese and proficient in Malay and Spanish.
