While many travelers are familiar with the savannahs and wildlife of East Africa, southwest Africa remains relatively unknown to even the most experienced travelers. We are pleased to offer this voyage that includes South Africa, Namibia and Angola.
We will start our voyage in Cape Town, one of the world’s most beautiful port cities, where we will spend time touring the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden and Aquila Game Reserve. From Cape Town, our ship Diana will sail to South Africa’s Saldanha, set at the head of its spacious bay, and Namibia. Highlights of our exploration of Namibia include the unforgettable Namib Desert, the oldest desert in the world, formed about 80 million years ago, where we will enjoy a private dinner under a tent, and the superb Walvis Bay lagoon, the most important wetland in southern Africa that is home to over 150,000 birds. Among other points of interest in Angola, we will have the opportunity to swim and relax at the seldom-visited island of Baía Dos Tigres, and discover one of the world’s rarest and longest living plants, Welwitschia mirabilis.
Our cruise ship for this unique journey is the Swan Hellenic Diana, a state-of-the-art, new-generation expedition cruise ship, launched in 2023. Accommodating only 192 guests in beautifully appointed staterooms and balcony suites, Diana features several lounges, a restaurant, outdoor café, spa and library, and is equipped with the latest safety and environmentally-friendly technology.
