Civil War: Southeast Coast Cruise

ABOUT THE TOUR

Sail into Civil War history on our new Civil War: Southeast Coast Cruise, a unique journey that combines the luxury and ease of traveling aboard a cruise ship with the in-depth historical focus of a tour by Stephen Ambrose.

As you sail from Charleston, South Carolina, to Jacksonville, Florida, you will delve into the Union’s coastal campaigns through both on-board lectures by our expert historian and exclusive shore excursions not offered by American Cruise Lines. Along the way, you will explore Fort Sumter, where the first shots of the Civil War were fired; see where General William T. Sherman’s made his dramatic march into Savannah after the capture of Fort McAllister; and learn about the groundbreaking “Port Royal Experiment,” where formerly enslaved people took their first steps toward freedom and self-sufficiency. You will also visit some of the most historic and picturesque towns in the South.

As you explore these critical events that reshaped the South, you’ll enjoy the amenities of a modern cruise, including gourmet dining, elegant accommodations, and stunning coastal views.
