ABOUT AMBASSADOR GANEM
A seasoned career diplomat with extensive experience in government affairs and international relations, Ambassador Ganem has served as the Consul General of Brazil in New York since May 1, 2023.
Ambassador Ganem holds a degree in Law and pursued postgraduate studies in International Relations and International Economic Affairs at the Brazilian Diplomatic Academy and New York University. He has taught International Economic Relations at both FAAP University and Mackenzie University in São Paulo at the graduate level.
In Brazil, he served as Diplomatic and Economic Advisor to Vice President Marco Maciel (1995–1999), Secretary of International Relations for the State of São Paulo (2003–2007), and Diplomatic Advisor to the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations (2019–2020). More recently, he was a Special Advisor to Vice President Geraldo Alckmin during the government transition period from November 2022 to March 2023.
His international assignments include roles as Consul General of Brazil in Atlanta, Miami, and San Francisco; Brazilian Ambassador to Panama; Chargé d’Affaires in Paris; Brazilian Representative to the OECD; and Delegate to the European Commission for textile and steel negotiations. He also directed the Brazilian Trade Offices in New York and Lima, Peru.
Ambassador Ganem has participated in numerous presidential missions and international forums, including those at the United Nations, the Organization of American States (OAS), and other multilateral organizations.
He is married to Hosana Bittencourt Senna Ganem, former Brazilian representative to the United Nations Industrial Development Organization and former International Director of the São Paulo Chamber of Commerce and the Brazilian Agency for Small and Medium Enterprises. They have three daughters: Ana Carolina Izaga de Senna Ganem, Danielle Ganem LeWinter, and Paula Ganem.
