“Trump announced new tariffs, impacting Pa. and beyond. Here’s what we know.” by Rob Tornoe
On April 3, the Philadelphia Inquirer cited Lauren Swartz, President and CEO of the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia, for her professional insights on tariffs and trade—just one day after the federal administration’s tariff announcement on Wednesday, April 2.
“Pennsylvania’s economy is reliant on international business, and that looks like trade,” Swartz told The Inquirer last month. “Doing things that limit our ability to access that 96% of the world that lives outside of the U.S., and 74% of global economic growth that occurs outside of the U.S., is going to be felt here at home.”
In her leadership role at World Affairs—the largest and longest-running international nonprofit in the Philadelphia region—Lauren Swartz helps to connect Philadelphia to the world. From powerful speaker events and international exchanges to youth education, to professional development and curated travel programs, this is where continents, cultures, and ideas connect.
