“Bodine High School connect with students internationally through the portal” by Chanel Hill, Tribune Staff Writer.
Featured in a Nov 26th Philadelphia Tribune article, a cohort of almost twenty high school students from William W. Bodine High School for International Affairs, recently visited Philadelphia’s Portal in the city’s Love Park. The historic high school, located in the Northern Liberties neighborhood of Philadelphia, is a global affairs magnet school serving over 300 students.
The students were joined by Bodine’s educators, Michael Schieber and Marty Moyers, World Affairs staff, and the historic school’s globe-shaped mascot, Amby. Holding banners, country flags, and handmade signs, the students welcomed people via the portal’s global broadcasts to Dublin, Ireland; Vilnius, Lithuania; and Lublin, Poland.
The World Affairs Council of Philadelphia co-founded the William W. Bodine High School in 1981 in partnership with the School District of Philadelphia. Since then, World Affairs has remained closely engaged with Bodine, offering students access to globally focused youth education programs like Model Senate, Global Economic Forum, and Citizen Diplomat Academy.
Since 1949, World Affairs—the largest and longest-running international nonprofit in the Philadelphia region—has connected Philadelphia to the world. From powerful speaker events and international exchanges to youth education, to professional development and curated travel programs, this is where continents, cultures, and ideas connect.
