Spend a summer week in the Summer Global Leadership Seminar! Rising high schoolers interested in global issues can learn through workshops, debates, and crisis simulations. Act like world leaders in a crisis, then meet real experts in D.C.
Program Model:
Individual Enrollment
Location:
World Affairs Council 1617 JFK Blvd., Suite 1660 Philadelphia, PA 19103
Learning is supported by nonpartisan expert speaker lectures, and local and national organizations who provide depth and context for the topic at hand.
Activities include a formal debate, a ‘crisis simulation’ where students role-play world leaders reacting to ongoing crises relevant to the topic, and optional after program field trips or continued learning roundtable discussions.
On the Seminar’s fifth-day, students will have the opportunity to travel to Washington D.C to meet with experts at government institutions, think tanks, and nonprofit organizations.
World Affairs offers students two ways to get involved:
High schools can register for High School Membership to access our in-person simulations: Model Senate and Global Economic Forum. They also gain access to our public programs for faculty, students, and parents.
Students can register individually for our Individual Enrollment programs, including Citizen Diplomat Academy, Global Scholars Certificate Program, and Summer Global Leadership Seminar.
