WORLD AFFAIRS YOUTH PROGRAMS

On June 12, World Affairs and four Youth Diplomats joined a special virtual meeting with Governor Josh Shapiro.

Kicking things off, the Governor shared,

So when we got the World Cup to come to Philly, it was really important to me that people all across Pennsylvania could participate and have access to the game.

And we were able to set aside 700 free tickets to the World Cup games here in Philly.”

Among the honored recipients were the World Affairs Youth Diplomats recognized for their volunteerism and dedication to welcoming international visitors and helping connect Philadelphia to the world.

Watch the video here or below to see our Youth Diplomats (starting at 1:16), and the other recipients, receive their tickets:

Three high school Youth Diplomats attended the event in person including: Tyresse G, Daniel T, and Michelle W, joined by Chief Programs Officer, Hayley Boyle. While a fourth, Genesis V, participated remotely from a youth exchange program in Japan.

On behalf of our Youth Diplomats, World Affairs is deeply grateful to Governor Josh Shapiro and Philadelphia Soccer 2026 for providing this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!

About World Affairs

The World Affairs Council of Philadelphia is where continents, cultures, and ideas connect. As the region’s largest and longest-running international nonprofit, World Affairs opens doors between Philadelphia and the world through powerful speaker events, international exchanges, youth education, professional development, and curated travel programs. Since 1949, global leaders, Philly students, entrepreneurs, teachers, and citizen diplomats have come together at World Affairs to share stories, exchange ideas, and expand perspectives.

Today, the invitation is open to all: to learn and discuss, to explore and host, and to experience Philadelphia—and the world—in new ways.
