For tours, we select and partner with the most professional and experienced Tour Operators based on their destination expertise, reputation, and specialization.  All itinerary and flight details are handled by the tour operators with whom the Council has longstanding and trusted relationships. AHI Travel offers deluxe international educational tours, including European river cruises, other small-ship cruises, and its Alumni Campus Abroad series. These specific tours allow for an intimate experience in small towns and remote destinations complete with lectures and local exchanges. In addition, we are excited that on a few select tours each year, AHI is able to offer spots that do not require the single supplement.

Criterion Travel is a Tour Operator specializing in expert-led travel creating customized group itineraries worldwide with a strong educational focus. Their tours and cruises are designed for travelers interested in learning more about the destination than the average tourist.

There is nothing “off the shelf” about the trips they develop. Many are unique and operate only once. Almost all have accompanying expert lecturers who complement what local guides have to say. In the late 1960’s, two brothers came from the island of Rhodes to America, seeking education and opportunity. They founded Travel Dynamics, a company that introduced a whole new concept in travel – focusing on education and enrichment as an integral part of the travel experience.

In the late 1970’s, enter Margaret Devlin, who had traveled and lived abroad just enough in college and beyond to develop an insatiable thirst to see more of the world. Little did she imagine after landing a dream job as tour manager at Travel Dynamics, that she would lead travelers in 39 countries on five continents and become an integral part of the company, establishing enduring relationships with distinguished universities, museums and other member-based institutions throughout the United States. After selling their company in late 2014, George and Vasos reunited with Margaret and other former and new colleagues in 2018 to form Thalassa Journeys.
