About the Event

The World Affairs Table is a new series of programming from the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia. These events feature discussions on topics pertaining to bilateral relationships between the U.S. and other countries. Each discussion is followed by a culinary tasting event with cuisine and drink from the country of focus. The World Affairs Table allows audience members to both engage in substantive foreign policy discussions and experience culture and cuisine, all in the span of one evening.

In March, the Council hosted a panel discussion on the US-Japan defense relationship and the importance of the emerging technologies of the fourth industrial revolution. After the discussion, which included time for audience Q&A, audience members had the opportunity to enjoy a reception that featured assorted sashimi, nigiri, maki, and other Japanese cuisines. The bar featured saké, a Japanese rice wine, and Sapporo, a Japanese beer, as well as other soft drinks, beer, and wine.
