About the Event

The Baltic nations of Eastern Europe have often been at risk from their larger neighbors. After Estonia regained its independence with the fall of the Soviet Union, it secured the chance to determine its own future as a democracy.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine has again elevated the attention to European security and particularly to NATO’s mission to deter conflicts. Ambassador Kristjan Prikk directly addressed these questions in his former roles as the Permanent Secretary of the Estonian Ministry of Defense and in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He described Estonia’s role in NATO’s cyber defense and the campaign to counter Russian disinformation.

The conversation was facilitated by Lauren Swartz, President & CEO of the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia.
