About the Event

Does the United States play an essential role around the world? Has America kept the world’s worst instability in check? What would the world look like if not for American influence throughout the last century? And, perhaps most importantly, do we want to find out what our future world looks like if the United States withdraws from the global stage?

Author and conservative American historian Robert Kagan is asking these questions in his latest book, The Jungle Grows Back: America and Our Imperiled World.

While “America First” is the announced doctrine of the current administration, Kagan argues that a world where the United States withdraws and tends only to itself is, perhaps, the worst possible response in the face of global disarray.
