About the Program

Maternal health outcomes continue to trail overall advances in modern medicine, even in the United States, one of the most developed nations in the world.  These challenges reflect continued racial and economic inequities in the healthcare system. With its world-renowned life sciences programs and concentration of medical research institutes, Philadelphia has a unique role to play in reducing pregnancy and post-partum complications and addressing these maternal health equity challenges. This panel will examine Philadelphia’s role and the city’s opportunities in medical and patient-care advances from a local, national, and global perspective. Local and global panelists will provide their outlook on innovations in maternal health.
