About the Event

As Ambassador and Consul General of Japan in New York, H.E. Kanji Yamanouchi is dedicated to serving as a bridge for U.S.-Japan relations; one that meets the political and economic demands of the 21st century, as well as the nation each has become.

Attendees will have the chance to talk with Ambassador Yamanouchi about everything from this summer's Tokyo Olympics to collaboration between the U.S.-Japan on science and technology, from how climate change is impacting Japan to national security in the Indo-Pacific region.

The Council’s “Diplochat” series provides meeting attendees with the opportunity to have an in-depth, off-the-record conversation with diplomats from around the world. Audience members will have the ability to ask questions and engage with those appointed by their governments to represent their country, skillfully negotiate, and use soft power to maintain political, economic, and social relations on the global stage. The conversation will be facilitated by the Council’s President & CEO, Lauren Swartz.
