About the Event

The Satell Family Foundation  “Diplochat” series provides meeting attendees with the opportunity to have an in-depth conversation with diplomats from around the world. Audience members have the ability to ask questions and engage with those appointed by their governments to represent their country, skillfully negotiate, and use soft power to maintain political, economic, and social relations on the global stage.

The Council hosted a discussion about the importance of U.S.-Australia relations, which featured remarks from the Consul-General of Australia in New York, Nick Greiner. Consul-General Greiner gave his insights into the geopolitical future of the Indo-Pacific region and discuss what the trilateral security pact known as AUKUS (between Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States) means for Europe, China, and the Indo-Pacific. He also discussed the recent historic defense agreement between Japan and Australia.

The conversation was facilitated by Lauren Swartz, President & CEO of the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia.
