2020 Middle School Welcome Back Reception
The 2020 Welcome Back Reception invites faculty and administrators from our partner middle schools to attend a special podium event featuring Former United States Ambassador to the United Nations, Samantha Power. Faculty are invited to a special welcome reception where World Affairs Council staff will introduce topics for this year's programming and preview the program schedule for the 2019-2020 academic year.
3:30 – 4:00 p.m. Registration opens for teachers and students
4:00 – 5:00 p.m. Welcome, Excellence in Education Award, and Student/Teacher Q&A with Samantha Power
5:00 – 5:50 p.m. Teacher reception with light refreshments; Student reception with light refreshments
6:00 – 7:15 p.m. Keynote talk, moderated discussion, and audience Q&A
7:15 p.m. Conclusion
About the Speaker
Ambassador Power is the Anna Lindh Professor of the Practice of Global Leadership and Public Policy at Harvard Kennedy School and the William D. Zabel ’61 Professor of Practice in Human Rights at Harvard Law School. She served as Ambassador to the UN from 2013-2017, and from 2009 to 2013 she served on the National Security Council as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Multilateral Affairs and Human Rights.
