Rising Africa: A Path to a Sustainable, Egalitarian Future
Tuesday, December 11th, 2018

For decades, the international community has seen Africa as a resource-rich continent, with the potential for significant economic growth and prosperity. However, progress on the continent has been slowed due to internal conflicts, unstable and autocratic regimes, and the colonial legacies of both Eastern and Western powers. More than ever, the international community is focusing on Africa and resources and capital that could follow significant development and investment.

The 2018 International Student Summit will tackle a number of timely issues surrounding international development in Africa. In this simulation program, students will represent both a nation within the African Union and a stakeholder position within that nation, with the goal of securing long-term economic growth and prosperity. Students will confront topics of historical and contemporary colonialism on the African continent, international development, resource sharing, and egalitarian growth.

The 2018 International Student Summit is available to schools with a 2018-19 Membership. If you have not yet secured a 2018-19 Membership, please take a moment to complete registration here.

If your school requires financial assistance in order to participate in this program, please reach out to Eric Bumbaca, Associate Director of Student Programs, at ebumbaca@wacphila.org or 215-561-4700 ext. 216.
