6ABC Action News
Ahead of the FIFA World Cup match between Croatia and Ghana, World Affairs President and CEO Lauren Swartz joined 6ABC Action News’ Christie Ileto. They discussed Croatia’s extraordinary rise in the sport and the country’s success story.
Watch 6ABC’s full video and Lauren’s interview.
In the Action News coverage, Lauren shared her perspective,
“They [Croatia] only gained independence, you know, a few decades ago. It seems unlikely that a country with such a small population would continue to pump out such incredible players.”
She noted this year marks “their seventh World Cup overall, and their fourth straight appearance.”
According to 6ABC, Pennsylvania is home to one of the nation’s largest Croatian American populations, with the Philadelphia-area Croatian American community numbering just over 1,000.
