On July 1, 2023, World Affairs found even more ways to open doors between Philadelphia and the world by merging with Citizen Diplomacy International Philadelphia. With a combined 130 years of foreign affairs experience, the two international nonprofits determined that they were better together.
By combining World Affairs’ speaker programs, professional development program, youth programs, and travel program with Citizen Diplomacy’s facilitation of the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program and other professional exchanges, partnership on the City of Philadelphia’s Sister Cities programs, and the virtual youth exchange Citizen Diplomat Academy, we have become the one place to connect with continents, cultures, and ideas.
U.S. President Joe Biden, Chilean Prime Minister Michelle Bachelet, Me Too Movement Founder and activist Tarana Burke, President of Ireland Mary Robinson, President of Kashmir Masood Khan, Mexican President Vicente Fox, U.S. President George W. Bush, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, and Prime Minister of Pakistan Benazir Bhutto. These are just a handful of the global leaders we have hosted in the past 75 years. And there’s a seat waiting for you at our next global event.
In 1981, World Affairs partnered with the School District of Philadelphia to establish William W. Bodine High School for International Affairs. Through a focus on humanities and foreign languages, the International Baccalaureate Diploma, and World Affair’s enhancements on international curriculum, this magnet school offers students a truly global education for students in the Philadelphia region.
Over the past 45 years, World Affairs has journeyed with curious minds across 100 countries. Serving as the travel hub for the World Affairs Councils of America, we harness our network to expand perspectives and horizons.
Since 2012, World Affairs has utilized the Global Leadership Institute (GLI) to mold business leaders by nurturing cross-cultural understanding and enriching global competencies among professionals. GLI stands as a dynamic, three-month cohort-based leadership development program, offering interactive sessions guided by an expert trainer.
