2018 Annual Appeal
As we approach the end of a momentous year for the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia, we pause to reflect on all that you have helped make possible in our city and beyond:
- Each year more than 2,600 students from 90 schools participate in our global literacy program; since 1950, the Council has reached more than 500,000 students.
- Our travel programs extend into every corner of the globe, making trips to more than half of the world's nations each year.
- Our national public television series, The Whole Truth with David Eisenhower, is bringing the Council's unique programming to millions of viewers in more than 60% U.S. households.
We value your support and interest in the Council. That's why, as we eagerly look ahead to our 70th Anniversary next year, and reflect upon seven decades of impact on the Philadelphia community, we invite you to make a gift to support our work.
Since our founding in 1949, the Council has remained a pillar of the Philadelphia civic community, bringing the world to Philadelphia and Philadelphia to the world.
With seven decades of service to build upon, we are growing and rising to the occasion to meet the increasing challenges dividing our communities, and we invite you to join us in upholding our new, urgent maxim: Democracy Demands Discourse
We are proud to have you as a partner in our mission and hope you'll make your gift today, in honor of our 70 years of service and in anticipation of many more to come.
We are embarking on an extraordinary effort to expand our reach and secure our work ahead. This campaign, Rising to the Occasion, will help us create a more informed citizenry. Will you join us with a gift today?
"I am involved with numerous organizations here in Washington that focused on foreign affairs. However, as a Philadelphian, it is a point of pride to know that we have such a vibrant organization in Philadelphia engaging with world world affairs. You help make Philadelphia a global city."
- Congressman Brendan F. Boyle
